Winter morning

We - Sini and I - watched the movie King Arthur. Mostly it was pretty realistic - cruel, ugly, strong and beautiful. But the scene on the ice was not real. I'm sorry but it was more surreal. Ice is NOT like that - I see it, the ice - every day. I walk on it every day. It does not break like that. Thick ice as in the movie can stand very much more weight than a couple of hundred men. And if you break it with an axe in one place, well - it doesn't break in any other place. So it was surreal. (The ice scene looked very much like a scene from a Sergei Eisenstein movie. Director of the film must have known it...) And yet in all its surreality the scene on the ice was definately a strong one - I admit that. Music of the film was wonderful - composed by Hans Zimmer. Thank you very much.

Finally the sun 

Aurinko, kuu ja revontulet

Many days have gone without the sun. Last weekend I didn't see the northern lights which were spectacular - some said. Full moon - not seen. Only clouds and snow. Today I saw a glimpse of the sun. Wow! It's still up there. But soon the clouds covered it again.

I like stars. They are nice to gaze at. I like the immense possibilities the space gives for your thoughs. Enormous vistas of the unknown. I like (hard) science fiction.

Very little is known of the sounds of exo-planets. You can imagine anything... You can try to turn the visions of real or imaginary places, planets, comets into sound. You can change light to sound. And you can combine them.

Titaanin oranssia

Mixed the piece of music that I yesterday began recording. It is some sort of hommage for the probe Huygens. Pro Tools met the roaring winds of the moon Titan. And my machinery survived the landing...

Colours

I sat with my Wx5 and recorded some lines for the first fragment of my next project Colours. Something absract coming up... I've already written almost 20 compositions for the project.
