Flowers from my backyard. - Maija P and I had a very nice gig. First Maija recited some poetry and I played a couple of my compositions. And then, after some speeches, during our second set I didn't know what she'd recite... I improvised all and everything with flute, percussion and domra. And it was so nice, for both of us. Tomorrow Sini, Hanna-Maaria and I are going to Tallinn, Estonia for a couple of days. Last time we were there it was Winter. Then it was cold, now it should be quite warm. Anyways a nice little journey ahead.

Uusi huilu ja vempain

I got a new wooden querfloten. It's small the size of a recorder traverse flute and thus it's a bit hard to play in tune. But it sounds so good. And while blowing you can change dynamics - you can play it louder and softer - which is quite hard or impossible with a recorder...

And I got an all new and shiny recordig machine - Zoom H4N. But I hadn't much time to check it - only that the gadget works fine - because of the new flute.

Maija P ja Improvisages

During this weekend I did spent alot of time editing videos. I added an excerpt of Maija P and Improvisages performing in Lapinlahti here. Poem was written by Katri Vala and the music is totally improvised by Jori and me.

Today I had some time off and away from video-editing and recorded three, four lines of percussion into ProTools. So nice.

Engine of SteamShip Keitele. - Yesterday evening when not playing with Ensemble Hoikkaset I videoed alot. Above one still pic taken with Canon Legria HF20. Today I edited what I filmed with Vegas Pro 9.0. What a wonderful software. And I like it alot! (Juha H.)

Ensemble Hoikkaset as a trio this time played a gig on the SteamShip Keitele. Finnish Folk Music and some Old-TimeJazz ... And all was so nice!!

Maija P visited once again. We talked about Art and watched some parts of the video of our performance Sini filmed last Sunday. And there are gigs coming, recordings of poetry to be done... Some work ahead.

J-V visited, too. He recorded a guitar solo for one of my song. I mixed the whole and bounced it to HardDisk.

Eilen ja sitten

Yesterday Sini and I were in Viitasaari. There was a Heavy Metal Meeting Concert. One of the bands was Antony Parviainen Trio. I videoed some of their songs. One excerpt can be found here. Great fun - banjo and all!!

While in Viitasaari I just stood there in the audience watching and listening to Mokoma... Then there was a guy in front of me with a mug of beer in his hand. He smiled at me and suddenly rushed to hug me. Then he hollered into my ear: " ForeFather of Heavy Metal!!" ... and went away. I was quite a bit amazed - well, happy and maybe even honoured, too. - I do remember the time before Black Sabbath. I even remember the time before Led Zeppelin... So I must be some sort of ForeFather...

Today. Maija P and Jori were here. We rehearsed for our next gig - tomorrow, tomorrow!

Rowan. - All evening I recorded and mixed my music. Two compositions that I wrote some days ago are now ready and bounced to HardDisk - Bugs Music 1. and 2. Both pieces are ment to be background music for a video about bugs that I filmed two weeks ago. All of those creatures I found living, crawling, buzzing, flying... in my backyard. (Juha H.)

Prahasta takaisin ja Machine Men

We're back from Prague, Czech Republic. Above one photo of the Castle. Fantastic city! We saw alot and so much was still left unseen. We must go there again! - This morning Sini and I listened to what J-V and Tony of Machine Men had recorded here while we were away - three mighty fine melodic heavy metal songs. And the music already sounded so very good - even as raw mixes. (Juha H.)

Soon, quite soon - actually within an hour Sini, Hanna-Maaria and I are going to begin our journey to Prague, Czech Republic. We'll be there tomorrow before noon. Back home we're going to be late on Thursday.
