Improvisages

Improvisages, Jori and I, rehearsed with some singers. Later there's going to be added a rock band to the whole. Three hours of music making. Jori played piano and conducted the singers. I mostly improvised with flute and alto sax. And I also recorded everything into Sound Forge.

Hoikkaset

Ensemble Hoikkaset played a nice, nice gig. Old time schlager, folk music from here and there and of course jazz. And then there was some tasty food and sauna, for the band, too. I swam the first time this summer in the Lake Keitele. The water was + 7 Celcius degrees - and that isn't much like freezing anymore...

Zappa Plays Zappa

Now I've seen and listened thrice the DVD Zappa Plays Zappa. And I'm still very much amazed. Virtuoso music with so many musically weird twists. So wonderfully did Frank Zappa compose his music. And the band this time was/is very much more than WOW!!... Dweezil Zappa is a virtuoso, the band is fantastic - and then there are Napoleon Morphy Brock, Terry Bozzio and Stevie Vai !!!! ( and one more great wow for the band - Scheila Gonzalez is a wonderful singer/keyboardist and especially alto sax player...) Thank you so very much. - And again as Frank Zappa's alter ego Suzy Creamcheese said: "Music is the Best...." - And then there maybe a WOW or something...

Now I've composed 26 songs based on poems written by Ryokan. It took me 20 days. And today I began recording the first of them into ProTools. Keyboards and one woodwind-instrument are done... More tomorrow, I hope.

Ensemble Hoikkaset keikalla

Ensemble Hoikkaset played a longish gig today. We performed for the veterans of the WWII. Oldtime music - pieces from the war era, Finnish Folk and some sing-along stuff... But no jazz this time.

I composed one more poem written by Ryokan. Some day soon I'll begin to record the songs into ProTools.
