Raoul Bjorkenheim

Earlier today I was soo tired. And then like ordinarely I went to sauna - that should have been pretty much enough. But this time it was to no avail... What saved me today was Raoul Bjorkekheim and listening to his music. Wow and wow! Krakatau Alive saved my day this time. Thank you very much for them weirdly masterful musicians - Some years ago while studying guitar in local music school J-V took part in a Bjorkenheim's guitar workshop. And after it when he came home he said:" I've never heard a better guitar player..." There are many possible equals and even better guitarists today ...

Ilman lepoa 2

Mixed the backing track of my composition Ilman lepoa (= Without any rest). It's a happy, happy song about the beauty of this world we live in. It's so good to see the good things every now and then. All is not wrong, all is not gone bad. Beauty and good things help us to get by and to get over with the evil... - Now only Sini's singing and a guitar solo are missing.

Now's the time to watch a movie - Troy this time. And some Stratocaster playing to go with the film.

Ilman lepoa

I recorded almost all instruments to my composition Ilman lepoa (=Without rest). Now only Sini's singing and a solo instrument are missing. The solo could be played with guitar and I hope that J-V'll have some day time to do it.

Now what? Maybe some Stratocaster...

Soft Machine

Just and only some minutes ago I finished listening to Soft Machine and their double-LP Six. This was the first listening ever, for me. The double - now a CD - was recorded in 1972 and released the next year. The music still sounds very cool - some of it is quite wonderful. What surprised me was that some compositions were mere hooks, sort of - there should have been something more music happening on top of a simple or a little more complicated ostinato. Anyways music of Soft Machine sounds still very nice.

Musaa ja kuvia

Nothing much. Most of the evening I just kept on blowing - flute and clarinet. Later after sauna there may be some time for domra pickin'.

Earlier today I added some photos here - pics from Winter Solstice 2007 to May 2008. In the beginning there are quite many hues of white and blue. Later all gets so blue and green.

Laivat

Some ships still waiting for Summer. - Now it's time for Weather Report and their DVD Live at Montreux 1976. The band was then in its Classical form, for me at least. Shorter, Zawinul, Pastorius, Badrena and Acuna was the Weather Report for me... They did many suberbly fine albums before and after Jaco. But Jaco was then the main focus for me... Well, later my son J-V got his first name partially because of him. Weather Report - Fine Music. (Juha H.)
