Rakkauden tango 2

Rakkauden tango (=Tango of Love) is ready and bounced to HardDisk. And when it was done I mixed some more JoukoT/Mep-songs. The project is steadily coming to its end. Now there are four more to go...

Musa ja Toropainen

Joukot and Mep were here. I recorded Mep singing vocals for NINE songs. She did it within approximately four hours. This was pretty remarkable. And from tomorrow on I'll mix them songs.

Later in the evening Toropainen visited. And during his visit Alvin called a couple of times from Germany. The evening was quite nice.

Raja

Sini and I watched a Finish movie - Raja (= Border). Finland decleared its independence in the 6th of December 1917. After that there was a pretty bloody civil war - brother against brother, white against red, socialist against non-socialist... The movie is a story of an important part of the aftermath of Finish Civil War of the year 1918 - of the time to create the border against Russia - against the birthing of the Soviet Union, against the communism... The whole is somehow a multidimensional love triangle of two men and one woman, men are politically on different sides... two or three ideologies get more or less intermingled, three countries - Russia, Finland and Germany - are parts in the story... and of course it the whole is a part of the aftermath of the First World War... Exceptionally fine movie.

Improvisages joopa ja hienova!

Jori and I rehearsed some music and then jammed some more. Once again it was so nice. There is a concert coming later this spring. Jori'll conduct a choir, play some keyboards, guitar and I'll play flute, recorder and percussion. This is the plan at the moment. Interesting times ahead.

Later in the evening I recorded a couple of woodwind-tracks...

And even later in the evening I listened to some music - Grateful Dead and their album Anthem of the sun. Great surprise! I think that this was the first listening. (When I was young I did listen to some other albums of their music ...) Late-sixties-music was so experimental... at least in America.

Rakkauden tango

JoukoT was here and I recorded him playing an acoustic guitar track. Later in the evening I played bass to go along with the guitar. JoukoT/Mep song Rakkauden tango (=Tango of love) is slowly taking its form and shape. Well, it's obviously a tango and a sweet one. And it's not any three chord composition. There are probably some twenty beautifully different chords involved.

Nice day - Pasunapelimannit played a gig in Sumiainen, Finland. This time we were nine musicians and we played Finish Folk music, exclusively. All of what we performed was composed locally - well well, except one piece of music which was written some years ago by Konsta Jylha...

Weekend is here. Maybe I'll have some rest 'till tomorrow morning...

All evening I've just arranged my music - scribbled some notes on paper. Songs for some future project... Now I've recorded all music, all instruments for the Katri Vala-project - only some Sini's vocals aren't yet there. When she gets her voice back the whole'll be finished.

Tomorrow morning - there is a gig coming...

Nothing much. All evening I just recorded different percussion instruments into ProTools. For some reason it was a bit hard to do. Maybe I'm not really a first class percussionist... Well the whole would have been alot of easier to do with loops and samples.

Improvisages, Jori and I, played a concert in the church of Konginkangas, Finland. There were singers whom we accompanied. Some more or less secular, some religious music. And of course we played some of our own instrumental compositions - with improvisations, of course. The church was almost full... Nice gig anyways.

Bike in the snow - with a football and all. Sini's art from our backyard. - Music goes on. J-V visited and recorded a guitar solo, well actually three... Majani (=My hut), a happy love song - the poem was written by Katri Vala - lacks now only Sini's singing. Today she's been rehearsing it. (Juha H.)

Joni Mitchell, Poco ja muuta

It's been quite a nice evening. - Earlier today I listened to Joni Mitchell's Don Juan's Recless Daughter LP. And after that it was time for Poco and their Deliverin' LP... Well and well - why Joni Mitchell? During so many years she's done some fine music and earlier today I heard an excerpt... And the next question may be - why Don Juan's Recless Daughter... ? This is easy. Jaco Pastorius played bass on the forementioned LP. He was/is one of the greatest... And this was one of the reasons why my son J-V got his first name... But why Poco? This is more mysterious... Somehow my hand just picked up the band's LP... Deliverin' was reliesed in 1970. And if compeared to their time - Poco was a very talented band... Even today it may be a bit hard to find better groups...

Earlier this evening I recorded bass guitar and some tracks of woodwinds for one more song - Majani (=My hut) is almost done . Basically it's a poem written by Katri Vala - I've just written it into music... Now only Sini's singing and J-V's guitar are missing. And of course the mixing of the whole...

Most of the evening I worked with a JoukoT/Mep- song. Tietokone (=Computer) is now half-ready - well maybe a bit more because only percussion instruments, couple of tracks of them, are still missing. Tomorrow, tomorrow.
