Hoikkaset

Ensemble Hoikkaset as a trio recorded one piece of music today. Little rehearsing and just one take! More than five minutes of music. And the end result sounds pretty good. (Well, it was almost one take. We did one re-take for the last four bars... ) Now the song is mixed, bounced on HardDisk and burned on CD. The whole is going to be a backing track for a singer at a Wedding Party.

Musaa ja muuta

Music, mostly was my whole day. I played quite many hours flute, recorded Sini's singing and then did some mixing... PasuunaPelimannit had a longish rehearsal, Finnish folk music for the most. ( We did play one Swedish piece...)

Videointia ja musiikkia

Much of the day I spent with Canon Camcorder and all new Sony Vegas software. I'm steadily getting acquinted with them. Vegas is quite ok - the learning curve is not steep. I could work with it right away. (Well, earlier I've done some videos with Adobe Premier and Pinnacle...)

And I had time to record few percussion tracks into Pro Tools. Nice!

J-V visited. He had with him some not-yet-mastered music that Dead Cult Diaries has recorded. Tracks sounded already very good!

I bought a video camera - Canon Legria HF 20. Actually it's a present for Sini. Anyways it took me most of the day to get acquinted with the new camcorder.

Musaa

I'm a bit tired. Fwd and Very Nais Quintet- rock band with female vocal quintet - had a longish rehearsal. My part was mostly to improvise with flute and tenor sax. Jori was the band leader. Anyways everything was pretty nice. Music sounded quite ok, well actually good. This was the first rehearsal for the whole. There are gigs ahead.

When I came home and opened the Internet to read the news there was a bit of a shock: Jarmo Savolainen, one of the most prominent Finnish Jazz-pianists, had passed away some days ago. So sad.

J-V has been in the studio for two weeks with Dead Cult Diaries. Some videos can be seen here. Music is propably some sort of punk-metal... Anyways some day soon I'll hear what the band sounds.

Bulgariasta

While in Bulgaria last week I took hundreds of photos, some of them can be seen here. Then and there in the breezes of the Black Sea I wrote tens of poems... But I scribbled only one tiny little composition and that can be seen above. (Juha H.)

While in Bulgaria last week I bought some music, CDs. I already knew a couple of musicians from the country of roses. And their music I acquired while there. Theodosii Spassov is a fantastic kaval-flute player and Ivo Papasov is quite marvelous clarinetist. Check them!

Today at home Sini sang my song Aamu sarastaa (= Dawn is breaking) and I recorded her doing it. The poem was written by Ryokan some 150 years ago. I mixed the whole and bounced it to HardDisk.

Some thunder, some rain - anyways a fine day.

Viimepä syksynä Pariisissa!

Howdy everybody pitkästä aikaa. Jori eli minä ei ole tänne blogisivuille juurikaan kirjoittanut mitään pariin vuoteen. Nytkin vaan tämmönen mainos, että minulla on sivusto googlella osoitteessa JORIONOVI . Sieltä pitäisi löytyä mp3:na harjoitusnauhoja, jotka on tarkoitettu soittajakavereilleni malliksi siitä mitä on tuloillaan. Ai niin sitten haluan toivottaa kaikki blogin lukijat tervetulleeksi valmistujaisjuhliimme 18.7.2009 otsikolla "Harjoitus tekee metsurin!". Vaimostani Eijasta tuli kampaajamestari ja minusta luokan - ja musiikinopettaja KM/FM. Valmistujaiset pidetään Äänekoskella Majaniemen matkailutilalla. Ilmoitathan tulostasi etukäteen 12.7.2009 mennessä.
