Cambridge Folk Music Festival 2014

I was there - Cambridge Folk Music Festival 2014 - when Michael McGoldrick (flute), John McCusker (violin) and John Doyle (guitar) performed a fantastic concert. It was one of the best gigs I've  heard... And here's a new video. (Juha H.)

Improvisages ja Musiikin aika

Improvisages at the Time of Music Festival - as representatives of the press. Time of Music (=Musiikin aika) is arguably the most important festival for modern concert music in Finland. We were there for two whole days - wonderous concerts and extremely interesting music. Frederik Croene is a fantastic and inventive virtuoso... Peter Ablinger is very interesting and imaginative composer, performance artsit... So much to hear and see.

Pasuunapelimannit

Pasuunapelimannit played a gig, well actually our music was part of bigger festives. Today is the 92th birthday of Finland. We performed at the official party of Aanekoski. Some Finnish folk, some military marches.

After the party I had time to edit yesterday's Improvisages concert video. And I added Jori's composition Reino with all Ari's visuals to go with - here.

Midsummer eve. Finland and I think at least some other Nordic countries celebrate today Midsommer. Summer Solstice is still some days away. But for us - this is it. Weekend is a good time to celebrate. - Most of the day I just played different instruments, wrote music... and later - meeting with relatives.

Now some TV-watching of football - European soccer championship. And then maybe later some BBQ.
