Now I have recorded all 14 bass-tracks for Jouko T's songs. This project of composed poems of Tommy Tabermann is well on its way to completion - all singing, guitar parts and flutes are done. Some more woodwinds, percussion and recitation are still missing... And of course I'll mix all the tracks.

On Monday everything is going to change. - Today I've written a lot of music. I must be one of those rare who do it by hand pretty exclusively... Notation software is nice. But at the moment I don't own anything that's good enough for the job. Maybe some day soon I'll buy Sibelius... (Juha H.)

Bruce Dickinson

I got a couple of weeks ago (from PlayCom) a triple DVD - Bruce Dickinson Anthology. It's a three disc compilation of Dickinson's LIVE gigs and some more promotional videos. I've already listened to parts of it. Now is the time to listen some more. Bruce is a mighty good singer and his compostions are quite strong - so nice listening.

Illalla elokuvaa

I watched a movie - District 9. I'm quite impressed. The story is a bit comic, a bit sad, quite violent and intense. I liked the whole a lot. Well, I'm a Science Fiction fan.

Earlier today I did some more recording of woodwinds, bass and percussion.

Sini and I got our H1N1 vaccination. I'm very ok. My arm is not at all sore, not a bit.

Gospel Sisters and Brothers had a longish rehearsal. There are a couple of gigs coming within some weeks. And alot of fun we did have while rehearsing. For me this was a change to improvise, again.

All evening I recorded my music into ProTools. Now there are six tracks done and my song Ala sure (=Don't be sad) is well on its way to completion. The story itself is very simple - don't be sad for the possible rarity of happiness but be glad and joyous for those short moments...

Oregon

Lately I've been listening to a band called Oregon and especially their album Ecotopia. During the 1970-ies and 1980-ies I did listen the group alot. How can the band's musical style be described? Non-Mainstream-Jazz? Modern Concert Music? Acoustic Etno Jazz? Anyways there is alot improvisation involved. Ecotopia is quite a bit RockJazz oriented because the original hand percussionist Colin Walcott had a few years earlier passed away in a car accident and he was replaced by an other masterful percussionist Trilok Gurtu who on this particular album plays ordinary drum-set on some tracks. I used to have a dream that some day I'd play the mixture of many acoustic musical styles - the kind of music that Oregon performed...

Sini, Improvisages ja Machine Men

Improvisages rehearsed - this time with Sini as a singer. We played some of my songs and one of Jori's composition. Tomorrow we're going to play a gig.

Machine Men are right now rehearsing - with a new line-up. This is the first time they are together. While not playing together MM have recorded some demo songs. I've heard some of them and they sound very good.

Soittokappaleyhtye Hoikkaset

Ensemble Hoikkaset played a gig today. Once again we performed for the local veterans of the WWII. Mostly folk music.

The weather has been so freezing for so many days. And there seems to be no end for this. I don't like this utter and bitter cold.
